El Paso's need for blood is always highest in the summer months. This summer, due to the COVID 19 pandemic and related restrictions, it's even higher.

In summer, regular blood donors typically go on vacation, take time off, etc and their absence causes a big drop in the blood supply for El Paso. This year, COVID 19 related issues have caused blood supplies to fall even lower than usual. The pandemic is still affecting blood supplies as new rules have slowed the donation process a bit and caused some donors to be ineligible.

Because of that, Barnett Harley Davidson and Vitalant have teamed up to hold a series of blood drives at Barnett Harley Davidson, 8272 Gateway East, throughout the summer. They take place pretty much every Saturday in June and for almost a week straight in July.

Each event will be held from 9am - 5pm on these dates:

  • June 13th, 20th and 27th.
  • July 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th.

Not only will donors receive a Harley T-shirt, they will also be entered for a chance to win a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.  The blood drives will be held inside Barnett's building where peeps will be nice and comfy. Donors will be safe too as all proper Centers For Disease Control guidelines will be followed and "social distancing" policies will be in place.  To cut down on your wait time, you are encouraged to make an appointment in advance. You can do that by calling 1-877-258-4825 or, you can make your appointment online at vitalant.org.

There are some people who cannot donate, read more about that here.
