The City of El Paso Animal Services shelter is currently waiving adoption fees during the COVID-19 pandemic to entice El Pasoans to adopt animals right now. The Coronavirus pandemic around the world has hit people hard health-wise and financially. This has caused many Americans to be stuck at home self-quarantining. That means that many adoptable pets at shelters across the nation may not be adopted soon because of so many Americans self-quarantining at home and not going out. The City of El Paso Animal Service's shelter wants to help get these animals into their forever homes and are waiving adoption fees currently. They are also waiving reclaiming fees for any pets that are picked up by animal control.

Another way you can help is by fostering an animal during your self-quarantine. This can help alleviate some of the stress that shelters are feeling due to the lack of adoptions and overcrowding that's happening around the US. To qualify to be a foster you must:

  • All fosters will need to provide proof that all pets in the house are up to date on vaccinations to include Bordetella.
  • Valid identification (i.e. Military ID, Driver’s License, etc.).
  • Completed foster application
  • After you complete the foster application email it to AnimalServicesFoster@elpasotexas.gov

The City of El Paso Animal Services shelter is located at 5001 Fred Wilson Avenue and is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Find more details at the Animals Services Facebook page or give them a call at (915) 212-PAWS.
