An Ancient Pool 700 Feet Deep Discovered at Carlsbad Caverns

We can all agree that Carlsbad Caverns just got a lot cooler with their Ancient Pool.

All these years families that have been visiting the caverns had no clue what laid beneath them. An Ancient Pool has been discovered in New Mexico that hasn't been seen by human eyes until now.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park won the lottery with their newest and hidden treasure. This big discovery happened many years ago in 1993 at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. But finally, they let the cat out of the bag last month when they announced the discovery on their Facebook page. They also have updates on when you can visit the caverns over on the National Park Services website. 

The Ancient Pool that was discovered is located 700 feet below the entrance of Lechuguilla Cave.

I remember my very first visit to Carlsbad Caverns because I had an accident in the caves. I didn't listen to anybody and fell in the cave scraping my knees, elbows, hands, and chin. It amazes me that all these years no one had a clue about this Ancient Pool, but the ones that did know did a good job keeping it a secret for quite some time. I can't wait to go back with my kids and visit Carlsbad Caverns National Park knowing what I know now. Just remember to stay safe when exploring he caverns.
