This Abandoned West Texas Water Park Won’t See Any Action This Summer
All across the country sit some pretty creepy, but once beloved, theme parks. But in Midland Odessa, there's one water park that has long since been abandoned that just gives off some paranormal vibes!
This is Water Wonderland, and it's been abandoned for over 14 years!
The water park was built in 1980 and has seen better days. At it's peak, the park featured things such as a zipline where park-goers would free fall into the water, bumper cars and, of course, a wave pool and according to this website, it even featured a mini-golf course! How cool?
I can picture exactly how popular this water park must have been; it is Texas and with the brutal summers we need somewhere to beat the heat. But as with all things, Water Wonderland began to fade away. According to this source, it had a bankruptcy and lawsuit in the mid 1990's, and was closed down in 2003- and has been abandoned since then!
Well, just a few months ago, the city of Midland began demolishing parts of the water park to make way for commercial properties such as possible office spaces. But before that, this YouTuber got to go inside Water Wonderland and film what had become of the former water park, and the whole thing gave off creepy vibes!
Maybe it's the graffiti, or the overrun weeds but this looks like it could be the start of a horror movie- a horror movie that I would watch nonetheless.
For those who got to experience the glory days of Water Wonderland Park and are sentimental about it, you'll be happy to know that according to CBS7, part of one of their iconic blue slides will be relocated and reused and refurbished
