If there’s one thing El Paso has plenty of, aside from great food and construction, it’s ghosts.

Seriously, you don’t have to look very hard to find a haunted story somewhere in the Borderland. We’ve got haunted hotels, haunted schools, haunted restaurants, haunted roads, haunted cemeteries; Concordia Cemetery has enough ghost stories to keep paranormal investigators busy all year.

And as someone who has written about A LOT of El Paso’s haunted history, I thought I had at least heard of most of the big ones.

Then TikTok showed me a bridge in Socorro, and there’s a ghost lady there?!

A Supposedly Haunted Bridge in Socorro Texas

The video comes from Creepy Tales with Nat, who actually visited the bridge at night after hearing that a woman supposedly appears near it.

According to Nat, the bridge is located “going towards Desert Wind School” while heading toward Clint. The specific piece of the legend she had heard was that a ghostly woman supposedly appears near the stop sign.

And...that’s about all we know.

Nat didn’t have the backstory behind the mysterious woman either, which immediately made this whole thing even more interesting. Who is she? Why is she supposedly hanging around this particular bridge? How long have people been telling this story?

Those are exactly the questions I had, and judging by the comments, I’m definitely not alone.

El Pasoans Have Questions About This Haunted Bridge Too

Plenty of people in the comments seemed just as surprised to learn about the supposedly haunted bridge.

Others, however, were familiar with the area and said the bridge can feel downright unsettling at night. Some described getting uneasy feelings or strange vibes while driving through there.

Now, creepy feelings obviously don’t prove there’s a ghost hanging around a stop sign in Socorro. But during spooky season, they certainly don’t help the bridge’s case.

What really caught my attention was how many people wanted to know the same thing I did- what is the actual story?

El Paso ghost stories usually come with lore. There’s a tragedy, a person, an old building, a creepy encounter that gets passed around for years. This one seems to have skipped a few chapters and gone straight to “there’s a ghost lady at the bridge.”

The Socorro Ghost Lady Remains a Mystery

I went looking for more information about this supposedly haunted Socorro bridge and its mysterious woman, expecting to uncover some old Borderland legend I had somehow missed.

Instead, I ended up with more questions than answers.

For now, what we have is a local bridge, a story about a woman who supposedly appears near the stop sign, people who say the area definitely feels creepy at night, and a bunch of curious El Pasoans trying to figure out where the legend came from. That might make this one even creepier!

Maybe there’s an old Socorro story out there that just hasn’t made its way online. Maybe longtime residents know exactly who the mysterious woman is supposed to be. Or maybe this is one of those local legends that has been passed around without anyone quite remembering how it started.

Either way, if you grew up in Socorro or Clint and know the story behind the ghost lady at this bridge, now would be a VERY good time to share it!
