A group of kids on a field trip and their escorts are being rescued after the Tramway broke down.
The Wyler Aerial Tramway, which takes peeps up to the Ranger Peak lookout point, has malfunctioned and 41 people are being brought down the mountain by the El Paso Fire Department. According to KVIA.com:
31 students and 10 adults need help, EPFD further stated. ABC-7 has learned it will take firefighters in between 4 and 5 hours to bring the students down the mountain. The students are from Socorro Middle School and were on a school field trip, SISD spokesman Daniel Escobar said. All parents have been notified and the students will be bused back to school. "All students are doing well. They are walking down the mountain and they are in the care of El Paso Firefighters," Escobar said.
No injuries have been reported.
