3Teeth continue to roll out music from their upcoming Metawar album, this time releasing a track that might already be familiar to listeners. The band has covered the Foster the People alterna-hit “Pumped Up Kicks,” giving it a more industrial spin.

The reimagined version of the song gives the track a grittier feel, while also putting a little more focus on the song’s gun-centric lyrics. As if that weren’t enough, the group just released a gun-centric video that serves as their own commentary on school shootings. Have a look in the player below.

“Industrial bands have a long history of subverting popular culture songs. From songs like Revolting Cocks’ version ‘Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?’ or Laibach’s ‘Sympathy for the Devil,” says 3Teeth frontman Alexis Mincolla. “We’ve just always been a fan of this sort of thing and felt it would be a good time to take an iconic song of the late 2000’s and give it some unexpected 2019 industrial darkness, which in the end seemed all too fitting considering the song is about a school shooter.”

If you like what you hear, the track will appear on the new album, which is due next Friday (July 5). You can reserve your copy here.

3Teeth are currently wrapping up a European tour and will return stateside for a North American tour leg. See the dates below and get ticketing info here.
