It's another blazing hot week in El Paso and some folks are leaving rather than suffer through it. Not everybody can just totally bail to stay cool so here are some other options.

Summer in El Paso is like living in an oven. Add in the humidity brought on by monsoon season and it becomes a sticky oven. It's tough no matter what and we're 100% in for this summer now so, here are a few ways to stay cool - with and without travel.

Sure, a weekend getaway is always fun but work, kids, school ... lots of things can make road - trippin' hard. If you can swing it though, you have 3 different directions to choose from. You can head east, you can try west or you can go north.

Cool, Summer Treats

The convenience store down the street probably has some kind of slushy or slurpee drink. Menchies makes a pretty mean frozen yogurt and Gozo's on Oregon has tons of frozen goodness.

Some neighborhoods still have cool, OG ice cream trucks driving around them. The really old school ones still announce themselves with super loud, super tinny, often super crappy music.

Depending on where they are from day to day, the Social Ice truck may be parked right down the street in your own 'hood.

Water Fun In El Paso

Some folks either have a pool or know someone who does so, there's a quick, cheap afternoon cool down. The next best idea would be a visit to one of El Paso's water parks and splash pads,  that will do the trick.

The beeesssst spot to splash around in the 915 though is Wet 'N Wild Waterworld. Located in Anthony, it's one of the 10 biggest water parks in Texas and you can bring in your own bbq goodies and drinks so you can spend the whole day there. Get tickets here.

You can also try the Dubba G method - Grab the Coors Light with the bluest mountains, pop it open on the couch under the A/C vent and watch concert videos. Or horror movies, re-watch Sons Of Anarchy maybe ... whatever. As long as you get the 1st two right, #3 is optional.
