A bill before the Texas Senate makes building new segments of the border wall in Texas much easier. Given the current political climate, funding is probably the only holdup.

Governor Abbott has made it pretty clear that he wants a lot more security along the Texas stretch of the border between Mexico and the United States of America so, I'm pretty sure, he'll make the most of this.

He's put up barricades and razor wire without Uncle Sam's help and stationed Texas state troopers and Texas National Guard members along the border. Now, building more actual "wall" segments may get easier but ease isn't the Guv's only concern.

How Does The New Bill Facilitate New Wall Segments?

The new bill allows Texas to use eminent domain to build new wall segments. A power that the state already uses this to build public projects like roads, bridges, dams, etc.

It may become easier to build the new sections but there's still a hefty price tag on them and Texas has already pumped over $10 billion into border security without much to show for it.

How Could Texas Fund "The Wall"?

I have 3 ideas that are a little ridiculous but I've seen Governor Abbott try other things that seemed pretty ridiculous. (Remember the floating wall and trying to fence off NEW Mexico?) Here's how Texas cashes in ...

Put LED screens over it and turn it into one, long ass digital billboard. There could be some static ads on it, similar to the outfield walls at baseball stadiums and some that rotate like the boards along the basketball courts and hockey rinks.

Immigration attorneys alone would buy a ton of space.

We could bring back drive ins. Texas could ride the nostalgia wave and bring back the good old days of piling friends and family into a car and enjoying a movie. Made even better by todays super high quality video tech and bluetooth sound systems. Not to mention being able to show a different movie every other section or two.

It would also take some, at the moment, worthless real estate and make it pay off. Gotta be family friendly though ... the drive in porno will have to stay at the Fiesta in far east El Paso.

How about Roger Waters follows through on his plan to perform "The Wall" live at the wall. He'll cost a fortune I'm sure but Texas can give him the gate and make wall cash off the $20 dollar parking fees and the $20 beer. They could also whip up some $15 churros and charge $5 - $10 per visit to the porta potties.
