2022 Chalk the Block El Paso: Sparta Headlines + Must-See Activities
Chalk the Block is having its quinceañera October 7-9, and a special day deserves a special musical headliner. Cue Sparta.
The rock and roll band from El Paso returns to the stage to help the largest free public arts festival in the region celebrate 15 years in the 915.
About Chalk the Block
Break out the chalk and your artistic skills. Chalk the Block is back downtown live and in living color for 2022.
The homegrown event isn’t just about drawing on sidewalks and streets. There are interactive art installations, live bands, a sidewalk chalk art competition, a vendor marketplace, and food trucks.
And chalk. Lots of chalk.
If you’ve never taken the kiddos, you are really missing out on a kid-friendly experience they will absolutely love. I mean, what kid doesn't like to chalk up sidewalks?
But you don't have to be a kid to draw on the pavement; everyone is encouraged to flex their artistic skills and paint the town red -- and purple, and blue, and yellow, and every other color in the box of chalk.
Sparta
This year the San Jacinto Plaza Main stage is highlighting local talent with all-local music artists. That includes the guitar rock of Sparta.
The Jim Ward-led band is currently on its first North American tour in over two years and will be making a stop in Ward's hometown at Chalk the Block.
Ward and El Paso native Matt Miller will be playing a few tunes from their fifth studio album - the band's first as a duo - on Saturday, October 8. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.
Frontera Bugalú, Feline Fox, Stan Z, Lavell Jones, and Pie Sisters will also take the stage throughout the weekend.
