Season 10 of VH1 Classic’s ‘That Metal Show’ — yes, it’s the 10th round already — is teeming with an impressive list of guests. The metal-themed talk show airs Saturday nights at 11 PM ET on VH1 Classic and is hosted by Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine. Season 10 premieres on March 31, with Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn as the featured guests.
Slash has shared the track list for his upcoming solo album ‘Apocalyptic Love,’ which is scheduled to drop on May 22. It’s 13 songs strong, but even with the doomsday romance title, the famed shredder is feeling positive and upbeat about the album (which is done except for a few stray mixes) and the prospect of touring. He just wants to get in front of fans and perform.
Talk about an all-star line up. Current and former members of Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard, Kiss, Alice in Chains, The Cult and more are coming together for Rock ‘N’ Roll Allstars, which is being dubbed a live show unlike anything else you’ve seen. That’s an understatement. The Allstars will tour South and Central America in both April and May of this year.
Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello performed several songs with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ last night (March 2) and it was quite the onstage collaboration. It was a collision of hard rock and classic rock and the result was nothing short of explosive. Out late on a Friday night or catching up on Zs after a long week and therefore missed the performance? Don’t fret. We’ve got footage below for you to enjoy.
Forget pumped up kicks. You need some metal ones. For a limited time only, you can grab a pair. Street apparel giant Vans is reissuing several band-branded sneakers, including the Slayer and Iron Maiden editions.
It might seem unfathomable that a high-profile hard rock vocalist moonlights as a burgeoning country singer, but then again, few aggressive music singers possess the breadth and scope of talent of Staind‘s Aaron Lewis. He just released his brand new solo song ‘Anywhere But Here,’ which features twangy guitars and his inimitable, soul stirring and richly emotional vocals.
Cold’s ‘American Dream’ video tells the story of just that: the sometimes unrealistic ideals and idyllic goals that so many average Americans strive for, yet never attain. Perhaps it’s the thrill of the chase, but Americans never give up on the dream. Also in this clip is the pervasive idea that nothing is ever quite like it seems, either.
Metallica‘s ‘Beyond Magnetic’ EP will see release in another format: silver vinyl. At first, the EP was digital only and then issued on CD. Now, to celebrate Record Store Day, the metal monoliths will release the EP on wax of the silver sort. Record Store Day is April 21, so look for it at your favorite mom and pop record retailer then, or via their website.
Man and machine will collide to form a gnashing, gnawing tangle of cyber metal courtesy of Fear Factory on June 5. The long-running band will release the new album ‘The Industrialist’ on that very date in North America via Candlelight. It’s a 10-song opus with a running time that clocks in at just short of an hour, which gives the band enough time to get in, rattle your brain, force you to mosh and/or headbang and then make its escape.
The ‘Top Chef’ finale on Bravo got us thinking about lady chef’s. The reality cooking competition is usually a sausage party and we’re not talking about the dishes that are served up but the contestants. It’s mostly men competing in the cooking wars, with only one woman (Stephanie Izzard) actually taking the crown and earning the title of ‘Top Chef.’ So clearly, a woman’s place is not always in the kitchen.
Pantera’s ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ turned 20 years old today. We paid tribute to this essential, landmark release and then we got some great news! It was revealed that the much-discussed, two-disc, deluxe edition of the album will be released May 15.
