Yep, Texas Rivers Are Open Again Just In Time For Tubing This Summer
When Governor Abbott announced that barber shops, hair salons, movie theaters, and restaurants could reopen in the month of May, also looped in that opening (or Phase 1 as it's called) were lakes and rivers in the state of Texas. That's right, you can start planning that annual tubing trip with the girls!
Honestly, if you're trying to go tubing, sooner than later may actually work in your favor. Think of all the heat, sun tans, and sun burns that are on the horizon in the next 30 days. Ouch.
On a serious note though, if you plan on tubing, kayaking, or just hanging out on the shoreline in any fashion, there are a few things you'll have to keep in mind. According to Gov. Abbott and the Houston Chronicle, social distancing will still be enforced, and there must be no groups larger than 5 people. The list continues with the following enforcement:
- Face coverings are to be considered if you're within 6 feet of someone not in your group.
- Any transportation used to take people to the river/lake must be disinfected between groups.
- Face coverings are highly recommended when riding group transportation.
If you do plan on going out, have a great time! Please keep in mind those around you and be safe.
