With Texas Now Open, What Are Your Personal COVID Guidelines?
Texas has officially reopened! Woohoo? Pretty much every top official is saying that it's too early to completely open up and that we are certainly not out of the woods yet. But who cares right?! It's all about personal freedoms and being able to do whatever the Hell we want! Yee haw!!
Here's the reality of the situation. Is Governor Abbott reopening Texas a stupid decision? Yes, 100%. But is it the end of the world? No, not at all. For the most part, it seems like people are going to be continuing with the CDC recommendations, such as wearing a mask and keeping your distance. Plus it feels like most stores are still going to require masks. And I'm telling you By tomorrow morning (Thursday March 11th) we are going to have videos of Texans losing their minds because the business is requiring a mask and their argument is going to be that the Governor said they don't have to.
Will your plans change at all now that Texas is open? Mine aren't. I'm still going to take the proper precautions. If a place doesn't require masks inside, I won't be going inside. If a place looks too packed and I won't be able to socially distance properly, I won't be going inside. Not much is going to change for me, but I don't work in a business that has customers come inside. What if your boss tells you that they are opening to 100% and not requiring masks or social distancing? Is there a way for you to back out so you aren't putting yourself at risk?
I'll wrap with this. If you are all for Governor Abbott's decision to reopen, that's fine. I'm not going to change your mind. But please remember businesses still get to decide what they require in their business. Don't be a dick.
