El Paso has been voted one of, if not the, safest city in Texas a couple of times. So, who's on the other side of that coin?

Potter County, which includes the city of Amarillo, took the "honor" of being the most dangerous place in Texas. According to an article at MSN.com, Potter County racked up an average of 1,126.6 violent crimes per 100,000 peeps. The number of violent crimes reported there was 1,375.

As for our neighbors to the north, the most dangerous area in New Mexico is Valencia County. Covering an area that borders on, but does not actually include, Albuquerque, Valencia County had a rate of 898.3 violent crimes per 100,000. The number of violent crimes reported there was 687 according to MSN.com.
