As we know, gas prices has been rising throughout the whole United States & unfortunately that includes us here in in the state of Texas & El Paso. But how do the prices compare throughout the state of Texas & where does El Paso sit?

Gas prices actually fluctuate but a good source to track gas prices is through AAA Gas Prices. Their website is constantly updating & you can track prices in any state in the US. And with the holidays are coming up, I figured this is a great chance to see where the best places would be for filling up, if you're planning on a road trip.

As of 11/12/21, in the state of Texas, according to AAA, the top 5 cities with the LOWEST gas prices are:

  • Amarillo: $2.90 for regular, $3.49 for premium & $3.39 for diesel
  • San Antonio: $2.92 for regular, $3.55 for premium & $3.24 for diesel
  • Lubbock: $2.92 for regular, $3.49 for premium & $3.29 for diesel
  • San Angelo: $2.97 for regular, $3.66 for premium & $3.34 for diesel
  • Waco: $2.98 for regular, $3.59 for premium & $3.25 for diesel

So what about El Paso? Well...unfortunately not only is El Paso in the top 5 highest pricing cities in Texas, but we have THE highest gas prices in Texas:

  • El Paso: $3.27 for regular, $3.96 for premium & $3.32 for diesel
  • Ft. Worth/Arlington: $3.14 for regular, $3.72 for premium $3.30 for diesel
  • Dallas: $3.13 for regular, $3.73 for premium & $3.31 for diesel
  • Midland: $3.13 for regular, $3.72 for premium & $3.44 for diesel
  • Odessa: $3.12 for regular, $3.73 for premium & $3.45 for diesel

Two of the biggest TX cities sit in the middle of the list:

  • Houston: $3.03 for regular, $3.68 for premium & $3.26 for diesel
  • Austin: $3.00 for regular, $3.65 for premium & $3.21 for diesel

But there is good news: The national average of the price of gas in the state of Texas is about $3.06, which is $.35 LESS than the NATIONAL average of gas: $3.41. Compared to the rest of the States, Texas is on the lower end of the gas pricing average. Currently we sit at being the 2nd lowest priced state (Oklahoma is #1 at $3.02).
