What is the New World Order & Why Does Texas Love It?
I'm a sucker for a good conspiracy theory. Not because I totally believe in them, but because I find it fascinating how one theory can flourish into something bigger and crazier- it's definitely something entertaining to discuss at dinner parties.
As much fun as it it to hear conspiracy theories, like the Earth is flat or chemtrails, it's kind of insane how some people really put their entire faith into them. Actually, it's kind of scary, and sad to know that some people live their life in this paranoid hole where everything and anyone is the enemy. And as many conspiracy theories there are out there, each state has their favorite that they love to Google.
US Direct, an authorized dealer of DirecTV, searched through Reddit to find out what conspiracy theory was popular in each state. Because it is DirecTV, they also offer what TV show or documentary you can find these theories.
Texas' most searched for conspiracy theory? The New World Order. No, not the wrestling thing- the conspiracy. Per their Wikipedia:
"New World Order is a conspiracy theory which hypothesizes a secretly emerging totalitarian world governement. The common theme in NWO is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian world government which will replace sovereign nation-states."
Apparently, this theory often links with Freemasons, Illuminati, the United Nations, the Bible’s Book of Revelations, and the Denver Airport as a possible headquarters.
It's an insane theory that I'm almost positive we've discussed on the show before, but why is it the most searched for conspiracy theory in Texas? Perhaps because it's notoriously the biggest conspiracy theory of today- and everything is bigger in Texas.
