Wayne Static’s Final Interview: ‘I’m Going to Keep Doing What I’m Doing ’til I’m Dead’
On Nov. 1, the world lost Static-X frontman Wayne Static. As we approach one month since the musician's passing, Static's cause of death has still not been revealed. However, Revolver claim to have conducted Wayne Static's final interview, in which he said, "I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing ’til I’m dead."
Since learning of Static's death, rumors began to circulate that a drug overdose was the cause. Though Static and his wife, Tera Wray Static, have admittedly partied hard in the past, Tera was quick to claim that Wayne did not die of an overdose.
Shortly before his death, Wayne Static spoke with Revolver to promote an upcoming tour with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool. The interview's final question was almost an act of foreshadowing: "Parting words, what do you want your fans to know?"
Here was Wayne Static's answer:
It’s been a long journey and honestly, I can’t believe that I’m still relevant to the music scene. I can’t believe I’m still touring and still making records. I never in a million years expected all this. It’s all because of my fans. I have the best fans in the world. They’re hardcore and diehard. I do it all for them. I keep going for them. I want to keep everyone happy and excited. I realize that’s my job. The reason I’m on this planet is to make people happy. I used to think my job was to rock out with my cock out and s--t like that, but that’s not my job. My job is to make people happy. I go on stage and I see people’s faces light up and I see everyone smiling. I don’t see people f--king banging their heads and s--t, I see everyone smiling at me, having a good time and singing along. I’m just really glad that I can provide that service to everyone and take an hour out of everyone’s s--tty day, so that they can have a good time and enjoy themselves. So thanks you to all of my fans for sticking by me. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing ’til I’m dead.
