A couple weeks ago I was flipping through channels when I stumbled on Hook. Great movie. And one of those movies that I'll stop on every damn time it's on. Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman were both brilliant in that movie. But don't forget about Dante Basco who played Rufio. Who turns FORTY-TWO flipping years old today!

Basco started his career taking minor roles on TV shows, but then got his breakout role as Rufio in Steven Spielberg's Hook. Basco's portrayal of Rufio was one of the highlights of the film, and a lot of the lines for Rufio were improvised by Basco.

Unfortunately for Basco, playing Rufio was and is still the most memorable thing he's done. Not to say he hasn't had a solid career though. He's been in lots of other movies, TV shows, and has done some voice acting. But Rufio would have to be a career peak for Basco. Which isn't all that bad, considering how great that role and movie is.
