Actor Chadwick Boseman chose to keep his stage four cancer diagnosis a private matter. So, when the 43 year old “Black Panther” and “42” star passed away, it came as a complete shock to most of his fans. The public announcement of his passing has become the most “LIKES” in Twitter history. The tweet said, in part, “[Boseman] was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016…it progressed with Stage 4. A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all…It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in “Black Panther”. He died in his home with his wife and family by his side.”

I think it’s great when a well-known person has a terrible condition and they use their fame to bring awareness to the condition. But, when a celebrity decides to keep the matter private and NOT bring attention to it…I respect the hell out of THAT as well. Chadwick Boseman was a class act.

What’s really surprising is how much Chadwick did AFTER receiving that initial diagnosis. Stage 3 colon is a very, very serious diagnosis. According to the timeline, Boseman did “Black Panther” “Avengers: Infinity War”, AND “Avengers: Endgame” while dealing with Stage 3 cancer. There is reporting that Boseman would get in shape to play T’Challa. Then, when filming was over he would undergo treatment for his cancer. If you know anyone who has had chemotherapy or radiation, you know how much that can take out of you. But Chad Boseman rose to the challenge time and time again.

He also hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live back in 2018. Here’s one of the highlights of his episode. It’s “T’Challa on Black Jeopardy”.
