I know many of those big latin words can be tricky to spell, but "Jesus"?  Really??

The Vatican recently approved a medal to commemorate Pope Francis' first year as Pope. The medal was engraved with a latin phrase that inspired Pope Francis to become a priest in the first place.   The phrase, (spelled correctly mind you and I don't even speak latin), is:

Vidit ergo Jesus publicanum et quia miserando antque eligendo vidit, ait illi sequere me."

In english, it goes:

"Jesus, therefore, saw the publican, and because he saw by having mercy and by choosing, He said to him, 'Follow me'"

A nice and fitting gesture to help celebrate this occasion except that they spelled Jesus with an "L".  Lesus.

6,200 medals were released before the error was caught.  With all the billions that The Vatican has, you'd think they would have a computer with spell check laying around somewhere.  (For long complicated latin words anyway, this is "Jesus" we're talking about here.  Anybody, anywhere, ... and at practically any age ... can tell you how to spell that one!)

4 medals were reportedly sold before the error was caught and the remaining medals recalled.  (Can you imagine what they'll be worth?)

Someone at the Vatican is probably STILL getting yelled at over this one.  Maybe someone could forward this vid over to them!
