Four years after it's last bowl appearance, the UTEP Miners are going back to the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The Miners (7-5, 5-3 C-USA) will face Utah State (9-4, 6-2 Mountain West) on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 12:20 p.m. at University Stadium in Albuquerque.

This will be UTEP’s 14th bowl appearance and Utah State is making its 10th bowl appearance and fourth consecutive.  This is Utah State’s first berth in the New Mexico Bowl.

“We’re excited to be in the New Mexico Bowl and we’re going to work our hardest to make the El Paso fans happy,” said UTEP coach Sean Kugler.

This marks the third meeting between the Miners and the Aggies and the first since 1961.  Utah State leads the series 2-0. UTEP has been designated as the home team for the New Mexico Bowl.

UTEP vs. Arizona basketball watch party, Friday, Dec. 19, 9 p.m., Uptown Sports Bar, 6601 Uptown Blvd. NE

Fan Fest, Saturday, Dec. 20, 9 a.m., North Parking Lot at University Stadium

UTEP Alumni Association Tailgate Party, 9:30-11:45 a.m., North Parking Lot at University Stadium – food, fun and giveaways with appearances from the UTEP marching band, cheerleaders and Paydirt Pete
