A bill allowing the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo to legally operate as a class II gaming establishment has unanimously passed the house and I myself am thrilled!

With all they offer the area, it's about time the state allowed them to operate in peace...

The Tiguas have taken a great step forward in their quest to keep Speaking Rock  in operation with the passage of H.R. 759. This "debate" between the Tribe and the State over gaming has been going on for decades and all the while, the El Paso area has done nothing but benefit from their presence. In terms of their service industry and live entertainment offerings, as well as all the jobs they create, they're an integral part of the local economy and a great help to the community in general.

Watch Rep. Will Hurd ... one of the bill's sponsors ... read a statement supporting the bill in the video above. Next stop, the Texas Senate. Then, hopefully, the bill will eventually be signed into law by Gov. Abbott!!
