The City of El Paso wants to beautify some municipal buildings with  local artwork that represent the City of the 915. If you're a local artist looking to sell some of your works and have them displayed right here in the Sun City, the El Paso Public Art Program has an opportunity for you. The City of El Paso is looking for local artwork that will be displayed in various areas of city government buildings including El Paso City Hall (300 N. Campbell), the Mulligan Building (218. N. Campbell), and the Texas Building (801 Texas Ave).

The artwork will be purchased through the 2020 Artwork Purchase Program. Some of the artwork the program is looking for includes completed paintings, drawings, photographs, and mixed media works. Artwork must be original and completed in the last 5 years. Artwork must also be suitable for a general audience and not need a power source. The artwork must be high quality and an original design and idea. The artwork must promote an understanding of the cultural values and perspectives of the people in the city.The artwork should also illuminate the history, culture and traditions of the region and give people a sense of what it's like to belong in this community. The program is looking to purchase artwork from various styles, mediums, and concepts. The idea is to get as many wonderful representations of the city as possible within budget.

To apply, you must be at least 18 years old, a professional artist or produce work on a regular basis, live and work within a 100 mile radius of El Paso, and can't be a member of the City of El Paso Public Art Committee, Museums and Cultural Affairs Board, or Current City of El Paso employee. If you're an artist and this sounds like you, or a talented artist in town you may know, now is your chance to apply. The online application is available online at the Public Artist website through the "City of El Paso- 2020 Art Purchase Program (TX)" link under "Currently Listed Calls." The deadline to submit your artwork is 1:00 p.m. on July 28th.
