Texas Uber Ride Goes Viral for Skipping Airports Entirely
If you've ever driven through the state of Texas, then you know that it's not entirely entertaining. Some cities are so far apart you could be driving eight hours and still not be there. But there are times where you'd think it's completely acceptable to drive than fly, but one Texas man took it to a whole new level by getting an Uber to take him from Dallas to Austin!
The man, who is know as @Ti_Morse on X, ditched the airport entirely and booked a 200-mile Uber trip from Dallas to Austin. Yes, you read that right. Instead of dealing with airport lines, security checks, and delayed flights, he called up a rideshare and hit the highway. Now the internet is roasting, and oddly, kind of admiring his bold travel hack.
How Much Did it Cost to Uber from Dallas to Austin?
The now-viral post popped up on X (formerly Twitter) where the man proudly announced his unconventional commute. Instead of a quick flight, he opted for a 200-mile Uber ride, and he wasn’t shy about calling it a brilliant move. Here’s what he posted:
Ti made sure to update us on his trip; in the end, the entire trip cost $157.79, he tipped his driver, Moses, $50.
How Did the Internet React to the Texas Uber Trip?
Of course, it didn’t take long for the internet to weigh in. Some people were surprisingly supportive, calling it a genius way to dodge TSA lines and avoid airport headaches.
"No transfers, no security, no waiting" one person commented, clearly sold on the idea.
But not everyone was impressed. The quote tweets lit up with people absolutely roasting the move.
"What kind of useless human being are you if you have to fly or Uber between Austin and Dallas?" one critic wrote.
At the end of the day, whether you think it’s a genius travel hack or completely unhinged, one thing’s for sure- this Texas-sized Uber ride got people talking, and at least he didn’t have to take his shoes off at security. Sure, Texas might still be dreaming of a high-speed rail line between Dallas and Austin, but until then, there will always be folks willing to test the limits of what rideshare apps were really made for.
