The Texas Torso Murders Come To An End (Pt.3)
A vicious murder in El Paso was apparently the first of 3 gruesome, unsolved crimes. The 3rd, (seemingly final), one was near Houston and the killer himself may have also died.
The victim of a brutal murder was discovered near the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas in 1959. 3 years later, a similar, equally horrible, murder occurred in San Jacinto.
None of the victims were ever identified and neither was the killer. However, he may have killed himself after the discovery of a 3rd victim in Fort Bend County, near Houston, Texas.
This is part 3 of a long, twisted Texas cold case that has never identified any of those involved. Victims, possible accessories or the killer himself. Until now ...
The Texas Torso Murders
Evidence suggests that the same killer was involved in each of the three Texas Torso Murders. The first one occurred in El Paso in 1959, (you can read about it here), and the second was in 1962. (Read about that one here.)
Texas Torso Murder Victim #3
In 1964, a headless, handless torso was found in a ditch. A torso, again, seemingly killed and butchered by someone well versed in the human anatomy. The killer was, (again), never identified but something really weird happened in room 636 of San Antonio’s Sheraton Gunter Hotel that might have exposed him.
What Happened In The Sheraton Gunter Hotel?
On February 3, a maid opened the door of Room 636 and saw the room was absolutely washed in blood. Emerick was standing over the bed, wrapping up something in a box – something she thought might be the torso of his female companion. Emerick made a shushing motion to the maid. - landofentrapment.blog
The maid screamed and ran to call the cops but, by the time they arrived, the rooms occupant ... Walter Emerick ... had escaped via the fire escape carrying the box. It's thought he also flushed other body parts down the toilet.
A Bloody Mess
The rooms carpet was soaked in blood, blood trails and bloody foot prints led to the bathroom and a .22 caliber shell was found with the bullet lodged in the wall over a blood soaked chair.

There were also empty wine bottles, leftover food, women’s underwear and blonde hair. The bloody footprints were too small to be Emerick's and it's doubtful the victim was wandering around in her own blood so it seems he had a helper. Read more about room 636.
What Happened To The Texas Torso Killer?
Police found Emerick at the St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio, registered under a different name. When they tried to question him, he shot himself. Yep, with a .22 caliber weapon.
Case closed? It sure seems like it as there were no more torso murders after that. We'll never really know for sure though, who did what or why.
