In news that'll leave you scratching your head, a Texas student is facing a school suspension for carrying a classmate having an asthma attack to the nurse.

According to KCENTV, 15-year-old Anthony Ruelas said a classmate in his eighth-grade class at Gateway Middle School in Killeen began wheezing and gagging on Tuesday morning. He said the teacher told the class to remain calm while she waited for an email with instructions from the school nurse. Ruelas said the student then collapsed to the ground and rather than wait, he picked her up and carried her to the nurse's office.

KCENTV reported that Ruelas was then suspended for his actions and that his teacher's handwritten note said:

"During 5th period another student complained htat she couldn't breathe and was having an asthma attack. As I waited for a response from the nurse, the student fell out of her char to the floor. Anthony proceeded to go over an dpick her up, saying 'F--k that. We ain't got time to wait for no email from the nurse.' We walked out of class and carried the other student to the nurse."

Ruelas claims he received a two-day suspension for leaving class, but that it was worth it. He said the student who suffered the asthma attack later texted him that she OK.

In response to the media coverage of the incident, the school district released the following statement on Wednesday:

"The District is unable to provide details related to the matter as it pertains to information involving student discipline and/or health records. In an effort to protect students' rights to confidentiality granted under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the details of the investigation and/or disciplinary actions may not be provided by the district at this time.
