A map that shows where all the major skyscrapers in the United States of America are being built shows one going up in Texas.

The mixed use building ... it will be used for residential, hotel and offices ... will have 74 floors and will rise 1,031 feet above central Texas in the states capital city of Austin, Texas.

It's not the tallest on the map but it will edge out the JP Morgan Chase Tower in Houston, (Texas' current big boy), by 29 feet and it's got El Paso's tallest building, ( 314'), way beat.

The Waterline is #3 on the map, coming in behind 270 Park Avenue in New York city, (1,388 feet), and Legends Tower, (1,907 feet), in Oklahoma. It's also a mixed use building while 270 Park Avenue is strictly office space.

Coincidentally, the one going up in New York ... tiny when compared to other New York skyscrapers ... is also owned by JP Morgan/Chase. As I mentioned above, they have ... or, had anyway ... the tallest building in Texas.

What Is The Tallest Building In The USA?

At the moment, that honor goes to One World Trade Center in New York. It stands near the former site of the World Trade Center, aka the "Twin Towers" and stands 1,776 feet tall.

Here are the tallest buildings in the USA. El Paso's tallest building didn't quite make that list before it cut off but West Star Tower in El Chuco is 314 feet tall. It's El Paso's most recent, mega building and is way taller ... 20 stories vs. 7 ... than El Paso's first "skyscraper".

Historic Texas Buildings That Were Destroyed

Sometimes to only way to get rid of buildings is to destroy them (in a proper controlled demolition) & Texas has gotten rid of plenty of historic buildings.
