Memorial Day Shopping Scoop: Texas Stores Open and Closed
The unofficial start to summer is nearly here! Memorial Day usually kicks off the summer season, and this year, you'll want to plan accordingly because some grocery stores in Texas will close to celebrate the holiday!
Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday of May, which this year is May 27. For the most part, we know that many workers across the country will have the day off. We also know that schools and most government offices are also closed- but what about grocery stores?
Memorial Day is almost everyone's favorite day to head outside and fire up the grill, and if you're heading to a cookout and forgot something last minute like guacamole or the buns, then you'll definitely want to know what stores will be open!
According to USA Today, it looks like only one major store will be closed in observance of Memorial Day: Costco!
According to their website, Costco will be closed for Memorial Day- which means if you plan on getting supplies for the cookout, you'll want to do that on the weekend!
The good news is that many other major grocery stores will be open where you'll be able to pick up some last minute items! Stores that will be open include:
- Sam's Club (your Costco alternative)
- Walmart
- Target
- Aldi
- H-E-B
- Whole Foods
- Albertson's
- Kroger (and Kroger family stores)
Plan accordingly if you are braving the shopping crowds for Memorial Day weekend because it does tend to get busy! Here's hoping you get the day off too!
