In El Paso, I think we all know that a Michelada just hits different here. Whether it’s a backyard hangout, a bar patio, or a weekend reset, Micheladas have a way of showing up at just the right time. We even have an entire festival named in honor of the Michelada!

And I’ll be honest, I don’t even drink beer like that. But hand me a well-made Michelada? I’m in!

There’s just something about that mix of lime, spice, and chill that makes it feel less like a drink and more like a whole experience.

Robert Pattinson Is a Michelada Fan Too

Turns out, El Paso isn’t the only place that appreciates a good Michelada.

While appearing in Vogue’s “A Toast to Cinema” series, Robert Pattinson revealed that one of the best Micheladas he’s ever had was during a road trip through Texas, specifically in a small town that clearly left an impression. No name drop, no exact location, just pure praise.

In the video, Pattinson takes on the challenge of making his own Michelada, inspired by that Texas memory. It’s part of a lineup of drinks tied to his films, including a Twilight-inspired version topped with a Tajín rim.

And look, he commits to it. The effort is there. The vibe is there. And somehow, so is that signature Pattinson charm that makes the whole thing work, even when it’s not exactly textbook.

Because while he calls it a Michelada, let’s just say not many were convinced.

What Exactly Is a Michelada Anyway?

For anyone new to the game, a Michelada is a classic Mexican beer cocktail that blends a few simple ingredients into something way bigger than the sum of its parts.

At its core, you’ve got beer, lime juice, salt, and spices, but from there, it can go a lot of different directions.

Some versions keep it light and citrusy. Others bring in hot sauce, Worcestershire, or soy sauce. And then there’s the Clamato debate, a key ingredient for a lot of people, especially in Borderland-style Micheladas.

It’s one of those drinks where everyone has their own way of making it, but there are still a few unspoken rules.

The Missing Ingredient People Noticed

One thing viewers were quick to point out in Pattinson’s video? The Clamato! Pattinson’s version skips it entirely, which immediately stood out to Michelada fans who are used to that richer, savory flavor.

Again, there’s no single “right” way to make a Michelada, but depending on who you ask, leaving out Clamato is a pretty bold move.

Still, it’s hard not to root for him! At the end of the day, though, it’s kind of hard not to enjoy the whole thing. Pattinson’s take might not be exactly how it’s done in El Paso, but the appreciation is there, and that Texas shoutout definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

If he ever makes his way back through the state, there’s a good chance he’d get introduced to a Michelada that sticks with him all over again- especially here in El Paso!
