Have you ever wondered what it felt like to live in Texas during its start?

There is a lot of history in Texas, and museums to visit, but sometimes it feels like those places lack the feel of Texas' beginnings. Yes, you can see the artifacts and read about Spanish missions, Wild West towns, and historic sights, but it's just not the same as walking through it.

As someone who loves history and seeing historic sites with my own eyes, I was excited to stumble across a site that listed some Texas places where "you can still experience old Texas."

I've only visited a couple of places listed on the sites list -- The Stockyards and Gruene -- but I can agree that those locations made me feel like I was experiencing Texas as it once was. Of course, the historic buildings are not filled with what they once were, there is modern technology around, people are dressed differently, and a whole list of other things. But still, both Gruene and The Stockyards felt different than the rest of modern-day Texas.
