This Is The Oldest Bakery In Texas
Texas, as far as statehood goes, is 180 years old. The oldest bakery in Texas has been up and running for almost that same amount of time.
Naeglin's Bakery has been cranking out baked goodness and tasty sweets since 1868. That means Texas, (granted statehood in 1845), was only 23 years old when they first opened their doors.
157 years later, Naeglin's, located in New Braunfels, Texas, is still going strong and even uses the exact same recipes they have since day 1. The only new(er) recipes are for items developed over the course of those 157 years.

Naeglin's was founded by Edouard Naegelin. Born in Alsace-Lorraine, on the French/German border, Edouard was brought to the USA by his parents when he was 2. At 19, he fought in the Civil War and, at the age of 24, made it to New Braunfels.
Naeglin's Humble Beginnings
In 1868, with only a sack of flour and less than a dollar to his name, Edouard opened the bakery. 2 years later, he moved to the current location and it's been there ever since. Not much has changed inside the building which locals say makes a visit there feel like stepping back in time.
What's The Oldest Bakery In El Paso?
This one's open to debate but it seems to be the legendary Bowie Bakery. Bowie Bakery opened its doors in 1951 at 901 S. Park in El Paso's oldest neighborhood, the historic "Segundo Barrio".
The original owners sold the bakery to Angel Marquez in 1971. Angels' son, Juan now runs the bakery. When Angel passed away in 2005, then POTUS George W. Bush sent his personal condolences.
