For The 1st Time In 25 Years, Texas Gets A New State Park
It took about a quarter of a century but Texas state park lovers will soon have a new one to visit and, like pretty much everything else in Texas, it's big.
At almost 5,000 acres in size, you can definitely find lots of cool stuff in Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. The former ranchland area was supposed to open in 2023 but construction delays held it up.
Now it looks like a "go" for Summer, 2025.
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park brings the total number of Texas State Parks to 86 and while it's only about an hour from the huge DFW metroplex, it's big enough that you will feel totally alone and away while you relax.
The park will offer the usual array of outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, paddling, picnicking, bird watching and stargazing. Once completed, the park will feature over 60 kinds of camping sites and 25 RV pads, each with an additional vehicle parking space. Once the park is fully open, it expects to welcome 75,000 to 100,000 visitors annually. - chron

Visitors can also expect to see a ton of wildlife like white-tailed deer, porcupines and bobcats just to name a few. It's also home to Tucker Lake so the bird and duck population should be pretty big. There will be snakes too so, keep your eyes open while you're wandering around.
A great way for locals to get a break from the "big city" and a cool road trip for other Texans, learn more about Palo Pinto Mountains State Park here.
