Texas is pretty gun friendly, in fact, most people would assume we're the gun friendliest state of them all. Not by a longshot, (pun way intended), but we are top 10.

Individual states have different laws when it comes to citizens owning firearms and some are more hardcore than others. Texas has some of the more lenient gun laws but it we're NOT the most gun friendly state. In fact, we barely made the top 10.

Texas is very gun friendly but, according to ammo.com, it seems we're not the friendliest of the 50 states.

Where Does Texas Rank In Gun Friendliness?

Believe it or not, we just barely made the top 10. As gun friendly as Texas has historically been, we've been bested. Even with as many pro gun leaders as we have in office and as many pro gun laws as we have on the books; we still barely got to #9.

Which States Are More Gun Friendly?

We beat North Dakota but came in behind these states:

  • 7) Missouri - (Home of the James Gang, duh.)
  • 6) Mississippi -
  • 5) South Dakota - (Home of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, go figure.)
  • 4) Montana
  • 3) Arkansas
  • 2) W. Virginia - (Duh. 1st line of defense against the British who inspired the 2nd amendment.)
  • 1) New Hampshire

Why Is Texas Considered Gun Friendly?

Texas also respects "Stand Your Ground" laws and the "Castle Doctrine. These laws protect folks who use force in defense of themselves, somebody else or even property.

In other words, "don't mess with Texas".
