Texas Proudly Owns Delicious S’mores Guinness World Record
S'mores...the ultimate treat to make on a camping trip, or to make at home when you crave graham crackers & chocolate together. A while back I wrote about the North Texas city who went to attempt to break the Guinness world record for making the most s'mores at the same time. Well after the story came out, the folks at Solo Stove in Grapevine, Texas attempted to break the record in July. And well...they did.
When did Solo Stove break the record in Texas?
The previous record was set in August 2018, when the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee held the record with 801 people making s'mores at the same time. On July 22, 2023 at the event called "Smoresapalooza" (fitting isn't it?), nearly 900 people came together on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Chicken N Pickle in Solo Stove's hometown of Grapevine. With the help of 500 tabletop fire pits, a total 891 people each took a marshmallow over an open flame & blended it with chocolate & graham cracker, breaking the old record by 90 more people.
Who helped put on the world record event?
Obviously something of this magnitude couldn't have been possible by just one person. There were many people who helped the event on that Saturday:
- Tyler DiGiovanni, from Solo Stove;
- Chelsea Churchman from Chicken 'N Pickle;
- Brittany Bui from HoneyMaid;
- Lauren Gumbiner from JetPuff;
- Phil Lamb from Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation;
- Kyle Tapply from the Dallas Mavericks;
- and Alexander Koob from Scheels
The record came at a fitting appropriate time too; just in time for National S'mores Day. Tyler DiGiovanni, the Director of partnerships at Solo Stove said this about the record breaking event:
"National S’mores Day has a special place in the hearts and stomachs for all of us at Solo Stove. This year we decided to celebrate in the biggest way possible, by setting a world record...Not even the heat of a hot summer night in Texas amplified by 500 fire pits could diminish the joy of coming together with our home community to break one incredibly tasty world record. Incidentally, we may have broken the world record for the most sticky fingers in one place too."
When asked if Solo Stove have their minds set on breaking future records, they said they don't have records in mind yet, but they wouldn't put it past them.
Congratulations to Solo Stove for being the new record holder of most people making s'mores simultaneously & way to represent Texas. You can see more Guinness World Records held by Texans here.
