What's your favorite beverage to enjoy on a hot summer day? Some are fans of a nice glass of wine or a frosty, cold beer after work or when out with friends. But the savings website and app Groupon decided to look and see what cocktail is the favorite beverage to sip on in each state. The website looked at Google to see what was the most searched in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Turns out, the Lone Star state has a similar taste to other states.

The most popular cocktail overall is the magnificent mojito, with eight states choosing the refreshing drink. Mojitos originated in Cuba and the recipe for a mojito is reportedly over 500 years old according to Insider. States that had the Mojito as their favorite beverage were California, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, and Texas. A Mojito's main ingredient is rum, followed by lime juice, mint, lime, and club soda.

The second favorite beverage may come as a surprise, the gin-based Tom Collins. The drink originated in New York in the 1800s and has a humorous background, allegedly being named after the "Tom Collins hoax of 1874." The Tom Collins drink consists of gin, lemon juice, sugar, and club soda. Other popular beverages included the margarita, vodka martini, Sex on the Beach, Bushwacker, Long Island Iced Tea, Dark n' Stormy, Sea Breeze, and Pina Colada. Lots of drinks made the list of state's favorites and I can't to try them out to see what all the fuss is about.
