Texas Dog Saved From Being Put Down At The Very, Very Last Minute
A dog was literally moments away from being euthanized when some kind people caught wind of what was happening and saved the day.
A shelter in Texas was overcrowded and had to make the heartbreaking decision to start euthanizing dogs deemed "difficult" to get adopted.
"Darla", a beautiful but super shy and super scared golden retriever fell into that category. She was too scared to even walk and was being pushed to her final moment in a wheelbarrow.
Miraculously, members of Austin Pets Alive happened to be visiting the shelter trying to see if they could do anything to help keep animals from being put down.
When they saw Darla in the wheelbarrow, they knew they were not going to let anything happen to her.
It was a good thing too as, not only was Darla a large, beautiful dog, she was only a puppy.
Once Darla was safely in the care of APA!, she received a full medical checkup to make sure she was doing OK. They realized she was only 8 months old and still had her whole life ahead of her. Even though she was still so scared, they knew that with time and love, anything was possible. - thedodo.com
Despite the fact that Darla was so, incredibly scared, APA knew that, in time, she would settle down and be able to live the full, happy life she deserved.
Darla now has a home thanks to APA rescue partners Mile High Lab Rescue in Denver. See pics here.
If you would like to give an animal a "fur"-ever home, there are a number of agencies around El Paso including El Paso Animal Services, the Animal Rescue League and the Humane Society.
