Lots of animals in Texas can and will attack human beings and some of them can really do a number on you. Cows though never struck me as much of a threat - until today.

A cow described by authorities as "unhappy" sent two peeps, at least one of whom was ID'd as a rancher, to a local hospital.

One was injured so seriously, they had to be airlifted from the scene while the other was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Not much is known about the attack, what caused it or why "Bessy" went postal. All that's known for certain at the moment is that cows are sleeping giants.

A portion of FM-831 was used as a landing zone for a medical helicopter. One person was taken to the hospital by ground transportation, and another, whose injuries LCEM said were more serious, had to be flown by air. One of these people has been confirmed as a rancher. - kxan

Sadly, that's all we have right now and it's driving me crazy. Cows aren't known for their speed and they're not exactly what you might call "cunning". They don't really seem to want to do much of anything except chew cud and avoid rattlers.

What ticked this guy off? Were the humans representatives of the beef industry? Was it Ronald McDonald and Wendy? WTH?

I guess it's true though that you can't judge a book by its cover and, when it comes to Mother Nature anyway, you should never assume. In Texas, anything can happen. Seriously, around here, even the pleasant and delightful little honeybee can "F" you up.
