No matter where you stand on issues, it is very important that you vote. Election day is November 6th and today (Oct. 9) is the last day to register to vote here in Texas. If you haven't done so, you find out all info here. Now, here in Texas we've seen our fair share of both positive and negative ads aimed at Senate nominees Senator Ted Cruz and his opponent Beto O'Rourke; or if you'd prefer I use their birth names, Rafael Edward Cruz and Robert Francis O'Rourke.

I have to admit, I personally enjoy watching the ads for both sides. It's always fun to watch what they can dig up about each other. Recently, I went down a spiral of Ted Cruz ads. Ted Cruz's campaign slogan is "Tough as Texas." Well, Texan born director Richard Linklater decided to challenge that slogan by creating his own Anti-Ted Cruz political ad:

Now, if that man looks familiar, you're not crazy. That is actor Sonny Carl, you may recognize this character from a film Linklater directed called "Bernie," it stars Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey and set in a small Texas town. Here's Carl in the film

The ad was paid for an Anti-Cruz PAC and not endorsed by his opponent, O'Rourke. Linklater is an obvious supporter of Beto O'Rourke. A few months ago, Linklater held a short film contest in support of O'Rourke. The ad is obviously satire but it does beg the question, "is Ted Cruz 'tough as Texas'"? Only you can make that decision, early voting begins October 22 to November 2. Election day is November 6.
