Despite holding onto a lead for the entire game on Friday, the UTEP men’s basketball team played from behind throughout Saturday’s contest, falling 73-55 to LA Tech and splitting another series in C-USA play.

The Miners (2-1) shook off early struggles and hung on to beat Abilene Christian (0-1) 17-13 in front of 6,059 fans at the Sun Bowl on Saturday.

Over the weekend, UTEP sent out a release to confirm what felt like inescapable news. Five Miner student-athletes tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, the university's athletic facilities will close for extensive cleaning until Thursday, July 16.
