Support Local Women Owned Businesses This Weekend At Mija Market Event
The local nonprofit organization, Mija, Yes You Can, is holding its first-ever Women’s Financial Conference this weekend and although tickets are sold out to attend the conference, event organizers are inviting the public to join them after the conference for their National Latina Day “Mija Market.”
“Supporting locally owned women's businesses is something our organization takes pride in,” said organization officials. “This market will feature over 30 women-owned vendors and we are excited to open the doors for the public to attend this market after our conference, free of charge!”
The Mija Project most recently celebrated its 2nd anniversary this past March and they celebrated with a birthday bash that featured their “Mija Market.” The organization is excited to continue featuring its “Mija Market” at all of its events to provide women with an opportunity to showcase their business while supporting a good cause.
“What is so unique about our Mija Markets is that we do not charge vendors a fee,” said organization officials. “We ask vendors to donate one of their products that we can raffle off to guests. This allows us to not only attract more people to join our markets, but it allows the vendors to have their items in the hands of people who may not have ever heard of their business.”
The Mija Market will be indoors at the Wyndham El Paso Airport Hotel which is located right next to the El Paso Airport.
Guests who are attending the financial conference will be able to enjoy the vendors throughout the event and also afterward during the Mija Market which will be opened to the public from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Mija Market Vendors
The Mija Market will feature a variety of vendors that include thrift clothing boutiques, and vendors that sell items such as candles, stickers, accessories, sweets, and much more.
Guests will also be able to enjoy live music from El Paso’s favorite acoustic sister band, The PIE Sisters.
Vendors will also include informational booths that are meant to provide women with assistance when it comes to preparing for a job interview or for women who need assistance with finances.
Informational booths include Raiz Federal-credit union, The LIBRE Institute, and New American Funding.
Professional headshots will also be provided to women free of charge courtesy of New American Funding, and women will also have the opportunity to shop FOR FREE at the Mija Project’s professional closet.
“Women don’t understand the importance of a professional headshot when it comes to applying for a professional career and we are hoping to provide women with that perfect headshot to give them the confidence they need when building their professional resume, online portfolio, or website,” said organization officials. “And if we can help women find that perfect interview outfit, free of charge, then we have accomplished what we hope to accomplish with this whole event.”
