Fact: talking about money is sometimes taboo for many people. Even more so for women because it’s not something most of us women we're taught about at a young age and it’s not something we’re comfortable speaking about to others.

The non-profit organization, Mija, Yes You Can wants to change that and they’re doing so by holding their very first women’s financial conference, “Manage That Money, Mija.”

“This conference is for all of the future CEO’s, founders, and all-around Jefa’s of our community who need that extra boost of confidence and the tools to help them manage their money for a brighter future,” said event organizers.

The conference will happen on Saturday, August 20th at the Wyndham Hotel right by the airport.

“Manage That Money, Mija” is open to women of all backgrounds. Guests 18 years of age and older are welcomed to join this unique conference that will provide women with the tools they need to better manage their money in any and all situations.

The conference will also include panels that help women who may be entering the workforce for the first time. Subjects such as contract negotiations, asking for raises and knowing your worth will be touched upon by women who have experienced these issues in the workplace.

The conference will include multiple panels with women who have made an impact in our community within the finance and business world.

Discussion Panels Include:

  • PANEL 1: From Mija to Jefa: Career Planning and Knowing your worth in the workforce
  • PANEL 2: Creating A Business From The Ground Up: A Family Affair
  • PANEL 3: Invest in your future, Mija: Growing Your Finances From The Root To The Fruit

“This is an event for women who can’t afford a $200 or $1,000 table for a conference but really want to learn new skills from women in our community,” said event organizers. “We want women to attend this conference, learn important skills and put those skills to use in their everyday life to break the stigma behind talking about money and our finances as a woman.”

Tickets are only $10 and that donation will go directly back to The Mija Project to help the organization continue putting together events that can serve those in need in the community.

Your $10 donation includes breakfast, mimosas (for 21+ guests), lunch and a Mija “Swag Bag."

Guests are also encouraged to stick around after the conference for a "Mija Market" which will feature local women-owned vendors as well as a networking event.

Informational booths from local organizations will be provided and women will be able to shop FOR FREE at The Mija Professional Closet as well as an opportunity to get your professional headshots taken at no cost.
