The internet loves its fair share of optical illusions. We've had "The Dress" and most recently we've had the "What color is a tennis ball" debate. But here comes a new one: If you stare a this picture it will disappear. Cue the X-Files music. There are some instructions to it. Pick a point in the center of the image, is will also help if you zoom in a little, and stare at the center point for a good 20 seconds, try not to let your eyes stray away and after a good 20 seconds, the outside colors should fade away to white. Give it a try

Apparently this happens because your brain is too smart for its own good. It's known as Troxler's fading, or the Troxler effect. A quick Google search will tell you this that the Troxler effect is: "an optical illusion affecting visual perception. When one fixates on a particular point for even a short period of time, an unchanging stimulus away from the fixation point will fade away and disappear." Basically if you stare at the center long enough, your eyes will adjust and make everything around it fade away.
This one took me awhile to get! I seriously sat at my desk for a good 5 minutes trying to see if it did disappear. After a few tries, I finally was able to see it disappear! It was like magic, no, wait, it was like science!
