Yet another hit and run has occurred, this time claiming the life of a Socorro man and police are asking for help finding the driver who hit him.

According to our news partners at KVIA, 48-year-old Armando Perez was riding his bicycle near the intersection of  Valle Suave & N. Moon Road in Socorro when teh accident happened Thursday night.  Socorro police have released a description of the car they believe struck Mr. Perez. According to KVIA:

Police said Friday they are searching for a dark grey 1994-2004 Ford Mustang convertible with paper tags, with a possible shattered window, and damage to the front right side of the car.

Authorities asked that anyone noticing a car matching that description contact Socorro police at (915) 858-6983 or call Crimes Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566 - TIPS (8477). - KVIA

This is not the first hit and run the Borderland has seen this year. Most recently, the El Paso Police Department asked the public for help in finding the driver of a car that struck an El Paso Firefighter who was assisting at the scene of another accident on Trans Mountain. That driver was ultimately tracked down and arrested.

In Texas, bicyclists have pretty much the same rights as drivers and we all have to share the road. Bicycles, just like motorcycles, are much smaller than cars and trucks and can be easily overlooked. Please pay close attention when driving, watch for bicycles and motorcycles and .... if you have any info on the vehicle Socorro police are looking for ... please call one of the numbers above.
