Should Woman In Viral El Paso Zoo Video Been Fired From Law Firm?
We have an update on the woman who was filmed jumping into the monkey enclosure at the El Paso Zoo and it looks like her stunt cost her her job.
Over the weekend, a woman was filmed at the El Paso Zoo hopping over the enclosure's fence to wade into the exhibit's moat to get closer to the spider monkeys. The woman then proceeds to sit on a rock under the waterfall in the exhibit and feeds the monkeys something. Fitfam stated the woman was feeding Hot Cheetos to the spider monkeys.
The video has now gone viral and has been reported nationwide and now the woman's employer has commented. The Lovett Law firm told KVIA news that the woman, identified by the law firm as Lucy Rae, has been fired from the law firm.
Lovett Law Firm released a statement saying Rae was a litigation assistant but she was let go after they became aware of her actions in the video:
"The firm has always been a strong supporter of animals and animal advocacy. We absolutely do not condone this irresponsible and reckless behavior. We support the El Paso Zoo and our thoughts go out to the spider monkeys, Libby and Sunday, and hope that they will recover from this very traumatic experience."
Many are wondering if the woman should have been fired for her actions, and the comments are mixed. Some believe the punishment fits the crime, while others think the legal repercussions are enough. What do you think?
The case is still under investigation, but the El Paso Zoo has filed a complaint and intends to press charges against Rae.
