A little girl had a Selena-themed birthday party…that included a piñata of Selena’s killer Yolanda Saldivar. The video, which has been viewed over a million times on Tik Tok is glorious.
The video shows the little girl, who looks to be about 6 or 7 years old, giving holy heck to the Yolanda piñata as her family looks on approvingly. Truly, it is awesome. However, unlike the description of the story KFOX ran, it IS NOT “Bidi Bom Bom” that’s playing in the background. Any Selena fan worth their sequins would know that the song is actually “Como La Flor”.

This makes a LOT more sense than having the piñata in the shape of something the child loves. When my youngest was 3 she had two piñatas at her party. She wouldn’t let anyone “hurt” the Dora the Explorer piñata. But she was MORE than fine whacking the Swiper the Fox piñata.
Another Selena-themed kid's party went viral in 2017 and at THAT party the piñata was in the image of Selena.
So, yeah, I think the Yolanda Saldivar piñata makes a lot more sense even if it’s not as glamourous.
This year is the 27th anniversary of the murder of Selena at the hands of her Fan Club president and former employee Yolanda Saldivar. In three years, on March 30, 2025, Saldivar will be eligible for parole for the first time since her conviction. Selena would have turned 51 this April.
