Escape the Fate Drummer Pays Tribute to Selena at Texas Concert
Escape the Fate came back to El Paso, Texas over the weekend & the crowd gave the band a HUGE welcome back at Speaking Rock. The fans loved seeing everyone again, especially the hometown hero on drums, Robert Ortiz. The band would play such familiar hits such as "The Flood", "One for the Money" & "Ungrateful" among MANY others.
About halfway through the show Robert would break into an explosive drum solo and DURING that solo, he gave the local crowd a surprise tribute to the one and only Selena.
Which Selena song did Escape the Fate play at Speaking Rock?
If you missed the show, thankfully some fans were able to record that drum solo. The same solo even made its way onto FitFam. They uploaded a small clip of Robert playing THIS Selena gem...
Yup! You heard that correctly; Robert was indeed playing along to the Selena classic "Como La Flor". And judging by the comments left on FitFam's video, they DEFINITELY got the approval from the crowd. You can certainly tell by the amount of heart emojis, flame emojis & devil horn emojis just how much they enjoyed seeing the love for The Queen of Tejano. Oh and these comments definitely show how much Robert killed it during that show.
"The fact we spent almost 20 minutes chanting Robert after his performance was a vibe 😂" - papibruno69
"It was Robert's night" - nosoyelizalde
"Robert fr stole the entire show! Sick show, sick band. ETF are awesome dudes" - frydatofu
"It was amazing I'm telling you! I'm such a huge fan! Was right there in the front!" -the_indominus_rexx
If there's anything that this show proves is that 1. Escape the Fate is VERY much loved here in El Paso & 2. Robert is a HUGE fan of Selena! (Metalheads love Selena too & he's proof). Robert himself even left a nice message on FitFam's video too.
If the guys from Escape the Fate ever come back, PLEASE make this a staple at EVERY El Paso concert! We look forward to seeing you guys come back soon!
