A pug that went missing seven years ago has been found alive and is now back with his owners.

Seven years ago, Valerie and Alex Cruz went on a date, and left their new pug Minnie with a family member who offered to babysit their dog. Unfortunately, when they got back they were told that Minnie had gotten out of their yard and was lost. The couple was heartbroken to lose their furry family member. They spent weeks searching for Minnie but eventually lost all hope of ever finding her.

And then a miracle happened.

Seven years later, Minnie showed up at the City of El Paso Animal Services. Staff at Animal Services scanned Minnie for a microchip, and the information for the Cruz's came up. The family got the call they thought they would never receive.

When the Cruz family was reunited with Minnie, both Minnie and Valerie were crying from finally finding each other at last. Minnie has some minor infections but is recovering happily with her family.

The story shows pet parents how important it is microchip your animals and keep that information up to date.
