The State Department has issued some new travel warnings for Americans thinking about going to Mexico.

The Good News: Juarez is NOT on the DO NOT TRAVEL list.

The Bad News: Juarez IS on the YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY RECONSIDER list.

A map of Mexico (which you can see here) shows that the Mexican states of Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Michoacan, Colima and Sinaloa should not be traveled to by Americans because of the danger of homicide, robbery, kidnapping and carjacking.

The state of Chihuahua, including Juarez, along with all the Mexican states bordering Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona are shown on the map in orange indicating “reconsider travel”. The “do not travel” warning is the same level of caution that the State Department advises for places like Syria, Yemen and Somalia (YIKES!) My advice? If Abuela lives there…what are you gonna do? You’ve got to go see Abuela. But, c’mon, are the tortillas really so much better that you HAVE to get them at S Mart?
