That's right, we eat grapes at midnight. If you're like me, you never really questioned the tradition but some say it's to bring good luck into the new year. Up until a few years ago, I thought everyone did it until I had a friend over one year and he had no idea what we were doing! Upon further research I learned that the twelve grapes tradition originates in Spain and symbolize the twelve lucky months ahead.

Now, many across the world will begin eating grapes at midnight for the very first time and it's all thanks to TikTok!

Videos from users like @helenguillen have gotten over 800 thousand views of her custom of eating grapes at the stroke of midnight on New Year's eve!

Helen also adds eating them under the table, I don't know what that one is all about, but I instantly recognized the tradition of eating grapes- and because Helen reported back that her year went amazing, which she attributes to the grape eating under the table, many are going to attempt to do so this coming New Year's eve.

Sit under a table and eat grapes ??? Bet how many I need to eat and how long I need to be under there?

Of course, we know the answer is 12 grapes, but I don't know how long you have to be under the table for- someone said stay under there until one minute after midnight. This New Year's eve, find a table to sit under and get your grapes ready! Wait until everyone on TikTok finds out about the red underwear and the luggage.
