Sunland Park New Mexico Named A Best NM City To Live In?

World Atlas has named its top 10 best New Mexico cities to live in and Sunland Park made the cut. Yeah, really.

Sunland Park, New Mexico ... practically a suburb of El Paso, Texas ... is one of World Atlas' 2025 top 10 best cities in the land of enchantment for 2025.

There's not much to do there so, I'm assuming, the fact that it's got the biggest marijuana dispensary in New Mexico probably helped. In all fairness though, there are some cool things to do in Sunland Park.

If you're not a pothead ... which, if you are, you're probably from El Paso anyway... here are a few other Sunland Park hot spots:

Horse Racing

During racing season, you can catch live horse races at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. Throughout the rest of the year, the casino is open for business and they sometimes hold concerts there. Pretty soon, there will be more concerts in Sunland Park.

Amusement Park

Across the street, Western Playland features all kinds of rides from roller coasters and a tramway to smaller rides for the kiddos. Taking up 25 acres, (which, I think, is most of Sunland Park), Western Playland has something for everyone.

Hiking

There are lots of hiking trails throughout the area in and around both El Paso and Las Cruces. Be careful though, some are deadly.

If you're feeling really ambitious, hike the 2.5 mile climb up to Mt. Christo Rey; a giant statue of Jesus Christ that is NOT a crucifix.

Two other New Mexico cities close to the El Paso area also made the list. Truth or Consequences, (yep - that's its name), is a couple of hours north and Lordsburg, (cooler name, huh?), is a couple of hours west of the 915.
